Webcam Ne Fonctionne Pas? 10 Solutions Qui Marchent
Guide pratique pour diagnostiquer et reparer les problemes de webcam sur Windows, Mac et dans Zoom, Teams et Google Meet.
When your webcam stops working five minutes before a meeting, you don't need a deep technical guide: you need fixes that work. This article walks through 10 of them in order from "takes 10 seconds" to "takes 10 minutes", so you can stop at the first one that works.
Quick Checks Before You Start
- Is the privacy shutter open? Many laptops have a sliding cover over the camera.
- Is another app already using the camera? Only one app can hold it at a time.
- Is the camera permission granted in your browser or the calling app?
- Try restarting the app (not the whole laptop).
Quickly verify whether your webcam shows a video signal at all:

Windows Fixes for Webcam Problems
On Windows 11, open Settings β Privacy & Security β Camera. The top toggle ("Camera access") must be on. Scroll down and make sure individual apps including your browser are also enabled. After Windows Updates, this list sometimes resets.
If your webcam appears in Device Manager β Cameras with a warning icon, right-click β Update driver. If that doesn't help, try Uninstall device β reboot. Windows will reinstall the driver fresh on next boot.
Mac Fixes for Webcam Problems
macOS requires explicit per-app camera permission. Open System Settings β Privacy & Security β Camera. Confirm your browser and any apps that need the camera are in the list and toggled on. After major macOS updates these often need re-granting.
For external USB webcams, unplug and plug into a different port. Some Mac docks have known issues with bandwidth-heavy USB devices like 1080p webcams.
Browser Permission Fixes
Each browser tracks per-site camera permissions independently. Click the padlock in the address bar β Site settings (Chrome/Edge) or Permissions (Firefox/Safari) β set Camera to Allow.
If you accidentally clicked "Block forever" you must reset the site's permission, then reload. Some sites cache the blocked state and need the cookies cleared too.
App-Specific Fixes (Zoom, Teams, Meet)
Each conferencing app has its own internal camera selector that overrides the OS default. In Zoom: Settings β Video β Camera dropdown. In Teams: Settings β Devices β Camera. In Google Meet: Settings β Video. Make sure the correct camera is selected and the preview shows video.
If the camera works in our free tester but not in Zoom or Teams, restart the calling app fully. These apps sometimes hold a stale device handle that needs a fresh start.
When It's Actually Hardware
If the camera doesn't work in our online tester, doesn't appear in Device Manager, and a USB unplug/replug doesn't bring it back, you likely have a hardware fault. Built-in laptop cameras connect via a ribbon cable inside the lid: a hinge can pinch and damage it over time. External USB webcams sometimes simply die. Try the camera on a known-good computer to confirm.
