When You Need an Online Mirror
Travel, hotel rooms, last-minute outfit check before a video call: sometimes you just need a mirror and your phone is the most convenient camera available. An online mirror turns your phone or laptop's webcam into a full-screen reflective surface with no app installation.
The mirror runs entirely in your browser using getUserMedia. Video stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.
Mirror vs Non-Mirror View
By default, we flip the video horizontally: what's on your right appears on the right of the screen, just like a real mirror. This feels natural but is actually the opposite of how others see you.
Toggle horizontal flip off to see yourself the way others do. Most people find this jarring at first: your face is asymmetric and the asymmetry you're used to seeing reversed in the mirror is now correct.
Filters and Adjustments
Five filter presets help in different lighting: Normal for default, Grayscale for high-contrast inspection, Sepia for warm tone, High Contrast for makeup detail, Warm and Cool for color temperature compensation.
Brightness and contrast sliders fine-tune for any room. In dim hotel bathrooms, boost brightness +50% for clearer view. Under harsh bathroom fluorescent light, drop contrast to soften the look.
Mobile Mirror Tips
On phones, use front camera for face mirror, rear camera for outfit checks at full body. Switch cameras with the device selector.
For hands-free use, prop the phone against a stable object at face height. Most phones can stand against a glass at slight angle in their cases.
Battery drain is significant: the camera is active and processing video continuously. Plug in for sessions longer than 15 minutes.
Privacy and Storage
Nothing is recorded, uploaded, or stored. The video stream exists only in your browser memory and is destroyed when you close the tab or click Stop.
Snapshots you save are written to your downloads folder as PNG files. We never see them. They're 100% local to your device.
